Museum Advocacy Day!
From Feb. 23-24, nearly 300 museum professionals—representing every type of museum and hailing from 43 states—descended upon Washington for Museums Advocacy Day, a comprehensive, concerted effort for museum professionals to make their case on Capitol Hill. After a day of intense advocacy training on the 23rd, these citizen-lobbyists hit the halls of Congress, Rep. John Lewis got the group fired up before they headed out to meet the lawmakers.
Billye Chabot, Executive Director of the Blount Mansion was one of only three representatives from Tennessee. Chabot met with Congressman Duncan and with staff members from Senator Alexander and Corker’s offices on Capitol Hill.
