The Southwest Territory
"The Southwest Territory"
The new Blount Mansion Theme Song !
written by: Chase Wallace
Chase is a history student at UT, one of our newest volunteers, and a musician, singer/songwriter with a passion for conveying the "feel" of History through musical expression.
Chase has graciously taken on the task of composing a theme song for
Blount Mansion titled: "The Southwest Territory"
Here's a description of its writing in Chase's own words:
"I've long wanted to write in a way that can draw the public closer to historical themes and figures that may otherwise prove elusive. This song, (written to be used as a sort of "theme song" for Blount and his family's experience on the Southwest Territory) titled "The Southwest Territory" kind of jumped onto my fiddle, and I've never been as pleased with an instrumental fiddle tune as I have been with this. My hope is that it captures something out of the air of those times."
Chase will appear in live performance at various Blount Mansion Events in the upcoming year. He'll be performing traditional Appalachian, Antebellum, Celtic,as well as original songs he's written on the fiddle, claw-hammer banjo, guitar, and hammer dulcimer. Chase is on a mission to further the work of writers like Robert Burns and Stephen Foster to give people a chance to remember the past.
