Blount Mansion Awarded Cap Grant!

HERITAGE PRESERVATION, THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR CONSERVATION AWARDS BLOUNT MANSION $6,500 FOR CONSERVATION ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
March 19, 2008 (Washington, DC)-Heritage Preservation, the National Institute for Conservation announced Blount Mansion Association has been accepted into the 2008 Conservation Assessment Program. Blount Mansion will be allocated $6,500 to hire a professional conservator to assess the collections and a preservation architect to assess the historic buildings at the Blount Mansion site.
“An assessment of the museum’s collections and facilities is the first step in addressing conservation needs, can serve as the foundation for a long-range conservation strategy, and raise awareness and funds for the museum’s conservation needs,” notes Billye Chabot, Executive Director of the Blount Mansion Association. “Such programs demonstrate to our members, patrons and our community the Blount Mansion’s dedication and effort to fulfill our mission of preserving this National Historic Landmark and the birthplace of Tennessee Statehood.”
Heritage Preservation is the national organization dedicated to preserving our nation’s heritage. The Conservation Assessment Program is supported through a cooperative agreement with the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
